The article talked about a medication that often helped. I don’t remember its name. When I consulted my doctor, he said he did not believe in Candida but that he would write the prescription anyway. Memory says the drug cost about $100.00 for a 30 day supply. I noticed improvement in my “wooden headedness” within a week. I was also drinking less beer. When the drug ran out, I did not renew. Soon I was back to 3 or 4 beers each evening; usually I had at least 2 cartons of ice cream each week. I would stock up on cookies and consume them in one or two days. To cut to the chase, I went searching the internet for the “Candida diet” determined to knock the yeast out of my system. I discovered a pro-biotic product called “Theralac”. It cost $45.00 for the first month (30 capsules). The price then goes way down because after the first month you only take one capsule every other or every third day. Within 60 days of starting the theralac I noticed that I had lost my craving for beer and my toenails started returning to normal. We stock a small supply of theralac for the convenience of our clients. You can go to www.theralac.com for all of the information and to buy on-line. In addition to using the theralac, foot baths in plain old “brown” Listerine will help kill the external fungus. I used about a cup of Listerine added to my foot bath water. Fever Blisters: I occasionally get a fever blister on my lip. I have used both lysine and the over the counter (expensive) medication called “Abrieva”. Both seem to help and in something like 7 to 14 days the fever blister goes away. I used straight peppermint oil on the last fever blister. It was totally gone in under 48 hours! No scab, nothing but a clean healthy lip. That was about 6 months ago. I am waiting for another fever blister to see if it works that fast again. (I wonder if the peppermint actually “knocked out” the virus or is the virus simply in extended remission?)
Muscle Cramps: I occasionally get muscle cramps in my lower legs or feet at night. Taking a multi-vitamin with lots of minerals in it helps very quickly; usually under 10 minutes. I use “Kirkland” brand “Daily Multi Vitamins & Minerals”. I usually only take them when I have muscle cramps, not daily. I have discovered that if the cramp is sever, massaging a little straight Marjoram or Basil (or both together), I get almost instant relief. Every time I have used the oils, the cramps subsisted in about 10 seconds. I have had simultaneous cramps in both legs or feet. 10 seconds after apply to the first leg the cramp is gone, while the second leg is still cramping. 10 more seconds and the after applying to the second leg and it has also stopped cramping. Not scientific proof, but I am convinced! |

To Your Health The information on this page is our opinion, based on personal experience, research and anecdotal evidence. Unlike many medical procedures or prescriptions, these options cost dollars, or tens of dollars; not hundreds or thousands or tens of thousands of dollars. Thickened Toe Nails: Many of us have a thickening, callus like area on some or all of our toenails. My experience indicates that this is actually a yeast or fungus infection indicative of systemic Candida overgrowth. Do you also eat sugar, alcohol, white bread, pasta, or processed foods several times a week? That can be further indication of a Candida overgrowth. A couple of years ago, I drank 2 to 4 beers almost every afternoon when I got home. I also frequently felt like I had a “wooden head”. It was often difficult to think or get motivated. After reading a magazine article about Candida I realized that Candida was likely my problem. |
